James proposed on a quiet beach at sunset on Valentine's Day 2026 — after hiding the ring in his jacket pocket for three nervous weeks. Emma said yes before he finished the question.
This page has everything you need: the kitchen tea, the ceremony, cocktails and the reception, the dress code, directions to Avianto, where to stay and a livestream for family who cannot be with us in person. If anything changes, we will update it here first — please follow the page.
Dress code: garden formal, in soft and earthy tones. Ladies, the ceremony is on grass — block heels are your friend.

Wedding Ceremony
The ceremony takes place outdoors on the lawn overlooking the river.
Please be seated by 14:40 — the bride is (almost) always on time.Avianto is on Driefontein Road in Muldersdrift, about 40 minutes from Sandton. Take the N14 towards Krugersdorp, exit at Muldersdrift, and follow the Avianto signs. Free parking on site; marshals will guide you.

Drinks and canapés in the gardens while the bride and groom have their photos taken.
Follow the path from the ceremony lawn to the garden terrace.

Dinner, speeches and dancing until late.
Kindly note: the reception is adults only. Shuttles back to Johannesburg and Pretoria leave at 23:00 and 00:30 — let us know if you need a seat.The reception is in the main venue hall. Staying over? Avianto has on-site rooms — mention the Walker–Carter wedding when you book.

She said yes!
On Valentine's Day, on a beach at sunset, James asked and Emma said yes — before he even finished the question.

The ring
James chose a halo diamond on a slim pavé band — and carried it around for three weeks, terrified he would lose it. Emma hasn't stopped looking at it.
